IP Geolocation Lookup

Look up the approximate location, ISP, and ASN of any public IPv4 or IPv6 address. Useful for verifying VPN exit locations, troubleshooting, or investigating suspicious connections.

How accurate is IP geolocation?

IP-based geolocation is approximate. Country-level accuracy is typically high (95%+), but city-level results can be off by tens or even hundreds of miles, especially for mobile networks, satellite ISPs, and recently reassigned IP ranges. The ASN and organization fields are usually the most reliable signals — they identify the network owner, not the physical user.

When you connect through a VPN, lookups against your public IP will show the VPN provider's data center location (e.g., "AS9009 M247 Ltd") rather than your real city. This is the expected behavior and confirms your VPN is masking your origin.

Privacy & data source

Lookups are performed by your browser directly against the public ipapi.co endpoint. We do not log, store, or proxy your queries.
